An academic exercise redesigning Prepara Herb Scissors, targeting improved multi-functionality and ergonomic mediation with respect to an established brand perspective and aesthetics.
Using existing products with similar desired mechanisms as prototyping templates, I revised a mechanism to extend a rotary blade to cut herbs in a more ergonomic and efficient manner. After redesigning the mechanical elements, I rethought the form of the object to fit the specific brand elements of Prepara - soft edge lines, a clean and elegant sensitivity to materiality, and organic, plant inspired form.
